After the 2015 Nepal earthquake, while 4,000 schools were destroyed, PATRIZIA School Dhoksan remained resilient, sheltering families for four months. In 2016, renovations were undertaken by the PATRIZIA Foundation, with further expansion in 2017 in collaboration with Supertecture, adding four new buildings, a library, and classrooms up to eighth grade. Led by Till Granner, Augsburg University of Applied Sciences students focused on earthquake-resistant techniques, utilizing local materials. The commendable sustainable design ethos embodied by the PATRIZIA School Dhoksan has garnered esteemed accolades, notably including the prestigious Hans Sauer Award 2020 for "Designing Circularity in the Built Environment and the esteemed first place in the Hans Benedikt Prize conferred by Augsburg

University of Applied Sciences. Furthermore, the laudable architectural contributions of Supertecture have merited a nomination for the esteemed 2020 Brick Award in the & quot Building Outside the Box category.Situated over 2,000 meters high, the school offers a unique architectural style and panoramic views of the Himalayas.

Monastery

Astitwa Upcycle Project

The Astitwa Upcycle project in Nepal is part of a broader movement by Himalayan Voluntourism and directly associated with The Lapsi tree promoting sustainability by transforming waste materials into valuable products. This initiative repurposes discarded fabrics and clothes, aiming to reduce environmental pollution and promote conscious consumption.

The project started in June 2023 when The Lapsi tree partnered with around 40 women in the community and started training them for this process.Through the process of upcycling, Astitwa turns waste into practical items like bags, accessories, and home decor. It engages local communities and encourages environmental awareness while also fostering creativity and sustainable practices.

The initiative is gaining attention for their contribution to environmental sustainability and social impact in Nepal at the same time empowering women.
